Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), U.S. Department of Justice, for Video/Action
Director | Producer | Writer
This video is one of twelve tributes produced for the annual National Crime Victims’ Rights Week awards ceremony, honoring those who have made excellent contributions to the victim services field. Ronald Cotton and Jennifer Thompson received the Special Courage Award for their advocacy work around wrongful convictions. In this amazing story, Jennifer is an original crime victim, and Ronald was exonerated after twelve years of prison when DNA identified the true assailant. Now Jennifer and Ronald work together to teach people about eyewitness ID, wrongful convictions and treating both exonerees AND victims of the original crime with dignity and respect.
